How far to take electrolysis? Old padlock, don't want to ruin it.

I found this in OK last week. Just built my first electrolysis bath. I let it run almost all day yesterday, and Im concerned about it being too rusty and having it just fall apart now. I was really hoping to find the keyhole. Im not positive that that keyhole cover came from this lock, but I found them pretty close together.

I think that's about as far as I would take it. Maybe just a bit more to get rid of that rust, then scrub off the black oxide, rinse, quick soak in acetone, then spray it good with WD40 and or put some Ren wax on it.
