Re: "how many days of the year can you hunt"

Tinpan, I am planning to hunt 3 days a week, average 50 coins a day, which is 150 coins a week minimum. Then that works out to 600 coins a month (x)times 9 months ====5400 COINS THIS YEAR. That means 9 months with a goal of 5400 coins, A total of 12 days a month x(times) 9 months === 108 days and I am in Illinois. Got my 12 trips in January over 600 coins, 0 trips in February, so 10 months to go should easily knock off my goals.

NW Indiana here. We are lucky to get 9mos a year. I personnally have this wall that just prevents me on getting out more often. I have tried to knock that wall down or at least put a door into this wall but it just keeps holding me back from getting out ALOT more. One of these days I will get around this wall, one day. I am typically a weekend warrior and occational afternoon hitter.

Wall = work.

SE Virginia here - Hampton Roads/VA Beach.
Fortunately we get mild winters here and I have been out every weekend (except for rainy ones). Even when we had a spell of 20's, that ground did not really freeze.

I mainly hunt on the weekends, but sometimes I get out for an hour after work during the week- like last night!

I am in Northern Wisconsin for now. We got a heavy snowstorm on Oct 11th ,melted and then rained but by November the ground was pretty well frozen...still tried to hunt a couple of times but that was useless...We got about 8 inches of blizzard again last night..,,,and expect more... The ground usually starts softening about april...but I still use a pick and chisel till well into May....Thats why from Thaw to freeze I am digging every possible moment that I can ....I carry the detector with me everywhere and will dig for five minutes at a stop light if I see a good spot ...I just need to dig...hahaha

Re: "how many days of the year can you hunt"

Tinpan, I have so many local parks it is unbelievable! I have 10 parks just on my 8 mile ride home from work each morning that do not require me to go more than a few blocks out of my way! I work midnights, which allows me to be detecting by 830 am anytime I want ;D On my off days even earlier. I have a park a half block from my house with tons of activity, so even when I don't feel like going out, it is right there. < So I go out anyways! Sure it is almost all clad i am hunting but do get the occasional piece of gold or silver. I also have Lake Michigan within 8 miles of my home, honestly I will never run out of spots. I will never find general Lee's belt buckle here, but the parks (have researched 54 just in area alone) and with the beach I have no reason not to find even more.

In Connecticut, maybe 200 a year. You have over 30 poisonous snakes, we have 2. You have many poisonous spiders, we have 2. So I guess it's a trade off.

as i was able to get out till the 2nd week on jan. then the freeze came.
thats when the water in the ground reachs 32 or lower ::)
so ill say of 365 days ,200 sounds about right give or take 10-20 or so
depending on commitments ::) this in northern illinois
im about 70 mile from the border of "the cheddar curtain"
aka wisconsin aka G's - TOWN :D
side note also just as close to chicago also

Re: "how many days of the year can you hunt"

Here in the "snow belt" of Western NY I'd guess that hunting is limited to about 9 mos of the year. This year I was able to get out through the first week of January until we got buried. Many folks are lucky and can hunt year round but I don't really like this time of year. Spring is coming sooner than later though!!!!!
