I'm 73 and can go 4 hours of hunting with no problems but when I was younger I could go eight hours. The big change in my hunting the last couple of years is the heat. If the temps are above 85 I either don't go out or I limit my hunt to 90 minutes at the most. As for holes I can dig 100-125 per hunt with no ill effects. You mentioned you trying to lose weight and I think that's a factor in how long you detect or how you feel after a hunt. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160....I keep my weight under control and I truly feel it's a plus when detecting. I've never smoked which is another factor.
