How Much Would You Sell These For?

At the local monthly flea market, I bought hundreds of F-22 Raptor lapel pins.

The gold one appears to be plated and the other is cast in a natural silver-tone color. The face surfaces of the silver tone and under the gold plated lay appear to be "sandblasted" to get their textured final finish.


I tried to to get the details of their casting int the photos. The two sided silver dollar size medallion is about passing the mark of 5000 hours of flight. None of the pins or the medallion are magnetic, so I don't know the metal they are made of. The Raptor pins' size seems standard lapel size when compared to the nickel coin.

Each one comes sealed in a small clear poly bag.

What do you think a single or bulk price would be?

Paid below the cost of the metals and casting supplies....not to mention time/labor...

I'm not really sure what the market is for pins but if I had hundreds of them, I would maybe move them at $2-3 apiece. Just to move inventory. Not sure what you paid for them but if it averages out to less than .50 cents each then let them go for $1.00 each and double your money. They're really cool pins but not terribly detailed. I got to see one fly at a local air show a couple years ago.

I have no idea. Depends if there is a market. Unfortunately, I never have priced items like these.

I would probably list the aircraft at $5/ea. Really have no earthly idea on the 5k hours badge. The badge was most likely awarded to a flight instructor upon reaching the 5k mark, but could have been earned by anyone who passed that mark while stationed at Tyndall. Your best bet for selling the badge, I would think, would be to target military collectors, and specifically F-15 and Tyndall memorabilia collectors. However, I wouldn't think there would be that many, so they may already have this badge - even multiple badges. ...Maybe list the set of 3 for $10?? Less if you're looking for a quick sell.

I was thinking the same as kcm on the price. Lapel pins, tie pins, hat pins etc. I normally have good luck with military items.

I have some sort of distant relative that used to hold the record for most hours logged, or something like that. Seems like he broke the 50,000 hour mark. Only thing is, I can't remember his name right now! I keep wanting to say Carol Medley, but I'm not finding any search results...and I remember a couple years back reading lots about this pilot's long and impressive career.
