It rimeinds me of the Verizon Yellow Page "enhanced" white page listing program for residents a few years back. the ad said "You can use the enhanced ad to (among other things) put your children's names and ages.

Brilliant, Huh?

That goes to point out where we are now days... Not too many years ago, if you had a social security card and 50 cents, you could get a cup of coffee. Now days, if you have a social security card that doesn't belong to you, you could probably sell it and make a few hundred bucks with it.

Strange but interesting find...

Re: How "NOT" to protect yourself from identity theft!

It all has to do with Credit Card companies requiring a SS# to identify you with.

Should be illegal for Credit Card companies requiring a SS# for a application. Should only be used for employment, then again The I.R.S is a whole different scam...

Just got paid 100.00

Government takes about 33%. Which leaves you 67.00

You go fill up your SUV with gas. It cost 50.00 Lets say 20 gallons of GAS

Federal Tax 18.3 per gallon x 20 gallons= 3.66 Federal Tax
State Tax 18.0 per gallon x 20 gallons= 3.60 State Tax

That leaves you with 27.00

You go buy 2 music CD's for 20.00 x 7.75 sales tax= 1.55 sales Tax costing you
21.55

33.00 in taxes when you got your paycheck
3.66 federal and 3.60 state/ in taxes when you got gasoline
1.55 when you got 2 music CD's

Thats $ 41.81 in goverment taxes,SS,Fica and so on, and in your pocket $ 5.45in change, 20 gallons of gas and 2 music CD's

It sucks when you really think how much you pay to our goverment.

I bet someone had a panic attack when they realized that was missing.

I agree, Tax's are crazy. I agree with tax's, but not what they are taking from us lately.

I once found a metal card in my back yard that said retired member U.A.W.A. It had the guys name and soc.# on it. he is lucky I found it and not some crook, if hes still alive that is, the card looks pretty old.

Speaking of which, that one is blank.... why is that?

Funny thing, my garbage service asks for a SS#, so does just about everybody else. Only thing you are required to use it for is your employer and the IRS.

When asked for it, I refuse. I'll give them my drivers license number instead, or something else, but not my SS#.

Re: How "NOT" to protect yourself from identity theft!

My father used to make these. He bought blanks and had a machine to punch them. I helped him sometimes. Some had cool pictures on them.

Re: How "NOT" to protect yourself from identity theft!

I still have one similar to that. I got it about 30 years ago at a county fair. They never said you couldn't use it as identification.
