how old is this lock?

found this lock yesterday.would like to know when it was made.i am finding square nails in the same area.also have found an 1868 ih penny in same area.the keyhole cover has a "w" over "mfg" over "co."in fancy letters. any help would be appreciated.

It resembles this Mallory Wheeler & Company, 1860's era.
