Hi all, I found this wrench a couple of weeks ago around an old home site that had Civil War activity in the area. I believe it to be from the 1800's , maybe even blacksmith made. I have found a similiar one in one of my Civil War artifact books that I have also pictured here. I maybe way off with my guess, so any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

It looks almost like a small knock wrench. The kind when the nut or bolt is to tight then you hit it with a hammer.
But hey that is just a guess
Very nice looking Congrats

Expanding on fortbball9's ideal of a knock wrench: Old enough that I can only find one reference to it on Google. Certainly old enough to be for a square nut rather than a hex nut. Looks like something my grandfather used, he was a mechanic from roughly 1900 til 1960.

I was told by another person that the head would fit 2 sizes. One side is a little bit smaller square. The handle piece has been broken off of it.

I don't know the age of the wrench, but I did find one just like the one with the long handle on a site that dates back to the early 1800' to the early 1900's. This might help a little. I wish knew a date to tell you, but this is all I've got. Congradulations on the find.
