How to clean a buffalo nickle

What is the best way to clean a buffalo nickle?

I'll first stay safe and say, "You don't clean it".

With that said I have had good success with Lime-a-way. l just let them soak until the brown gunk is gone. It will turn them a bright white and you might notice some surface pitting. Use at your own risk.
