how to get out of Jury Selection

I've been called several times. In Texas, I was asked if I had ever been guilty of any theft. I told the judge that I had paid a $40 fine for 'petty theft under $5' when I was in my teens. He told me I was disqualified to serve in a jury; but if I ever wanted that record expunged, to let him know. He said it had been over 20 years and would be easy to accomplish. I was self employed at the time, and had no employees. I didn't have the time to serve on jury because I would probably lose several customers if I was out for several days. Here in Idaho, I've been called twice. The first time I was told I wasn't needed. About two weeks ago, I received a summons, but checked the box to have my name removed from the list because I was over 70 years old. I'll not be called again.

And how DID this wind up in Comedy Central?

Because I was born with a sense of humor & apparently so was he

My mother-in-law has been called 6 times in 10 yrs for jury duty....served 5 of the 6. My brother has been called 3 times in 10 yrs.....served 2 of the 3 times. I've been called ONCE in 40 yrs......they didn't want me to sever. I wonder why. (Hang all of those 'criminals' !) Maybe they're mind readers.

Yep :laughing7: as I said, If you consider them Guilty until proven innocent the Defense don't want ya.
if you consider them Innocent until proven guilty the Prosecution don't want ya.
you gotta be very hard to read

I doubt if any prisoners are still dressed like this, mostly orange for decades.

I have served a few times, and the 8 dollar check really pi**es me off. Is it actually a throw back to a time when 8 dollars was a days wage?

Most hourly workers can lose hundreds of dollars or more in lost wages......here's your 8 bucks:BangHead:

I was paid from my company when I had jury duty as long as I showed the paper provided by the court...

If my name is drawn and I'm no longer working what ever they pay in Florida will be enough, it is a right and duty as an American citizen just as my military service is/was.....

For me being an American citizen is much more than hamburgers, beer and fireworks on the 4th of July..

Just the way I personally feel is all.......[emoji631]

Absolutely. I didn't mean I would ever try to get out of doing my part, I would do it for nothing, but to give me a few dollars for a day of my time, is like leaving a nickel for your waitress.

I had a pair of those pants back in 68 I wore to High School, they threw me out for dress code,a week later a walk out was planned for 9:00 AM,we walked into town about 3 miles away WITH police escort tv news coverage..they changed the dress code.

If that happened today they'd call SWAT. How low this Nation has fallen.

GOD Bless

Chris

GM, my apologies if you took my post wrong, I didn't mean to imply you were trying to avoid it at all...

I totally understand what you mean, it is like getting a .19 cent pay raise which to me is more of an insult than no pay raise at all..

Pay grade scale works that way.
