How to protect my relics- spray enamel or other?

So, after electrolysis for my iron relics (artillery shell frags, canon ball frags), what should I put on them? I figured that polyurethane would be good but the paint department lady said to use clear enamel spray.

And for my other delicate items such as an intact sharps carbine with casing, what would you use to both keep it together and make it last for at least my lifetime?

Thanks for the info!

uploadfromtaptalk1456869246440.jpg I use paraffin wax on most of my relics. Just rub a good coating on and they look nice. It's also easy to get off if need be.

Boil them in wax right after cleaning. It will remove all the water and leave a protective wax seal. Just give it a good rubdown with an old rag to remove the excess

I use a product known as Museum Wax...protects without giving it a sheen...

I'm wanting to try something out of a rattle can myself.

Thanks for any suggestions
