How to refund partial money on ebay sale

I would send it back as a gift, or they do give you an option of a partial refund I believe. But i would go with gift and nobody has any fees with that

Sold an item on ebay buyer had an issue wanted $20 off I agreed to refund he paid via paypal which still has not released money to me. How do I refund the $20. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to "view Paypal transaction" on that item on your "my eBay" page., issue refund, put in the amount you want to refund.
Paypal returns the fees on the amount of refund.

That's how I do it.

I would not go with a gift payment. If the buyer turns out to be a greedy pig they can then ask for a full refund through the eBay(or Paypal) system & you would be in for a huge hassle with no guarantee of winning the case.

Thanks Carroll that worked!Paypal jacked the buyer for about 87 cents for refund of 20 dollars.

Actually, they were just giving in their fees that they took ... If you refunded the full amount, and they kept their fees, you would be in the negative.
