It's good that they (kellyco) had your back. I sent my Minelab ExII SE back to Minelab back in November and the machine is still there. The machine stopped working and would not power up. After 3 calls since November, the results were given to me yesterday as some type of circuit board that had gone bad with a repair price of $285.91. The machine has seen less than 100 hours of useage and has been treated better than my own kids. I purchased it about 3 years ago from a local distributor. All I can say. is WTF ?

I was left wondering why Minelab never bothered to contact me and let me know what was going on once they got around to examining it. Are there so many Minelabs breaking down that the repair department can't keep up with them ?

After all of this, my next machine will definitley NOT be a Minelab.

I have owned 5 Minelabs, (3 Excals and 2 Sovereigns GTs) in the last 3.5 years, only one of them has been to repairs, once for a bad headphone, wire broke, same one was also in for repairs, but that was for a cracked coil, and could have been my fault as I do not use coil cover in the water here in Florida.......

I know Minelab is short handed as they laid off some people....Heck there are people waiting on repairs on tiger sharks and sand sharks for over 9 months and still waiting...Tesoro having problems getting one part for them.....

Personally, I would not hesitate for a second to buy another Minelab....Then again, I buy used, only one of the Minelabs were bought new, one of the Sovereign GTs....

Did u ever send in your warranty card, I purchased 2 excaliburs about 2 and half years ago and they have a three year warranty, Check from who you purchased your excal from and find out when it was purchased and if its within the three years they may still help you, Alot has changed at minelab the past year and i have not been to happy with the way things are done now,Ever since they let Sandy go.
But anyway check your purchase date and good luck.

When it was working, the machine was great. It was a little hard to learn at first ( hence the short amount of useage time) but after learning it, I could find something decent on almost every outing.

I'm going to see if I can pursue the warranty further. I believe that I had an extra year added to the warranty when I purchased the machine as part of some promotion they were offering at the time. If it's not in warranty any more then I guess i will be out $285.91. To get the machine back and working I would have to fork out the dough. But like I said after this, no more Minelabs for me. That price seems outrageous but maybe i'm wrong. I would expect a $1500.00 metal detector to have a longer life expectancy.

one of the reasons I Don't like $1500.00 Detectors.
More that can go Wrong with them.

Yes sir the more bells & whistles the more to go wrong the bigger cost to get fixed...........
