Huge Marble I Found - ??

I found this stoneware marble today at a Louisiana plantation site. It's huge. It is broken in two, but it measures 1.5'' in diameter. I've never seen a marble this big. Can anyone give me any information on the age or why this marble is so big? Thanks for any assistance.
