Yes, the title is correct.

10 ounces of silver for $10.

We made this massive score at a flea market we stumbled into at an old engine show. The item was tucked away in a back shelf and wasn't getting any attention at all. It was a grey, tarnished dish which held four small cups of the same color. It seemed too good to be true for a minute. These were the markings we saw.

It had an inscription which was written in a foreign language, but it allowed us to date the piece: 1930

My brother, Kevin, decided to make the move and go for a purchase. The market owner bargained with him a bit and they ultimately agreed on $10. Fair price? Oh yeah...

Turns out the markings are Polish and that the entire set is made of 80% silver!

And here we are, ecstatic about our find :laughing7:

Beginners luck? Maybe. Will it happen again soon? Probably not. But at least we can enjoy it while it lasts!

Here's a video I put out today where we talk about the experience and give a few tips to anyone who wants to get into thrifting/picking. Thanks for looking everyone, and happy hunting!

Very cool
Here’s my translation (cannot make sense of first word):

....(something),
solenizantowi “Birthday boy”
ofiaruje “offering”
na pamiatke “for remembrance”
wspolnej pracy “of working together”
Grono nauczycielskie “group of teachers
(city in Poland)
29 stycznia, 1930 “January 29,1930”

Not hard to deduce the location, I live in the area. You did good on that find.

Thank you Sagittarius!! Is there anything else you can tell us about the piece?

Not really, it's the first time I've seen something like this. Cool find for sure.

Awesome stuff. I would research any name. You may find out some interesting or sad stuff. Poland took a big hit with the Nazis.

FLEA MARKET FINDS ARE THE BEST.
