Well, I havnt had it tested yet, but all indications point to this being silver. This thing was 6inches down at some foundations and came out of the ground black. Seems to be the lid to something since theres no hallmark on it. Its non magnetic, 4inches X 4inches and an inch and a 1/4 high. weighs about a pound.
I guess when I have it tested ill update this, but for now ill just live on the hopes of it being sterling :thumbsup:

WOW! That's a chunk of something. Sure looks like silver, too. How much does that sucker weigh?
 

ok, false alarm. its plated. oh well :tongue3: does make a nice change dish though :headbang:
 

Stylistically it looks to be from the 1930's or 40's! Possibly would've had a lid at one time. :thumbsup:

Looks like a well made piece, usually they'd be marked even if it was plated? :icon_scratch:

Nice find though . . . to bad it's not sterling! :-\
