As I was eating dinner, I was attempting to take pictures of humming birds, out the window, while they were eating dinner.
The first picture is what I call a male ruby throated humming bird.

The second picture is the same bird, he turned his head and took off, and I snapped the picture just as his head turned, and captured the way the light reflects off his throat feathers.

I don't know why this post did the attachment thing with the pictures. I know some folks don't click on attachments, so I'm going to try the pictures again and see what happens.

Excellent photos! Fun factoid of the day: Hummingbirds are the only bird that can fly backwards. :happysmiley:
 
Great shots. Do the Ruby throated Hummers there tend to be territorial, running off all other hummers or do more than one visit the feeders at a time?
 
They are ornery, nothing like Walt Disney would have you believe. They chase each other off all day long, but just at dusk they seem to realize they all have to be able to make it through the night, and there will be a bird at every yellow flower on the feeder, eating their fill.
