Hummingbird nest

I went to visit my daughter's and they showed this to me. It's along a brushy creek bank, hanging about 10 feet out over the water.
It was too high to get a downward shot, and only one vantage point.

PS. Hope these little birds can fly when they leave the nest cause they are above the creek.

Kudos on the best photos you could get, finding and photographing a Hummingbird nest is high on my want to list!

Ron,I Had an old mountainman when I lived in Tennessee tell me he used to find them above a crik,far a few in between,he said.He was 80yrs old'and spry as goat,he flipped of my woodshop deck,rolled over on his shoulder and jumped right back up,I was totally amazed,still am today!Very handsome little buggers they are.GOD BLESS HH Chris

This is only the second one I've seen. I don't know how someone spotted it, from a about 15' away it just looked like some small debris that was part of the. If my daughter had not pointed it out, I know I would have missed it.

I found one about 35 years ago, way back in the woods about two miles from any houses. It was made about 4' feet of the ground on a fir bough. It was interesting watching that little family that summer. Had two pencil eraser sized eggs. They looked like two adult sized hummers on the nest just before they left. I kept that little nest in a jar for about 10 years. Don't know what ever happened to it.

I'm alot younger than that fellow, but If I tried that, I'm not sure I would be able to get up. :laughing9:

Those are fantastic photos. I love the last one where you can see one of the babies eyes ;D
