Do you ever have a bad day?:icon_scratch::icon_scratch: (Hard to remember )

Once again our predictions were off, as we fired for a 3 hammered day.:metaldetector:
Conditions were perfect with the soil on top dry & wet underneath & high temperatures.
I decided to finish off a corner we had left after Day 1, as it turned out it was a real hot-spot. It seemed every dig was a GPS plot!
5 Hours gridding produced;

18th C Silver Button Top
2 Crotal Bells - 1 made by William Gwynn in the Aldbourne Foundry in circa 1790.
Late Medieval Pot Handle (heart shaped thing) - Might be our first complete one, or maybe the 2nd.???
Medieval Lead Weights
Medieval Buckles
Some 19th C pressed copper with a Crown over 'APPROVED'
4 Jettons
1 Lead Token
Roman Disc Brooch
18th C Child's Spur
Tudor Clothes Fastener
VERY RARE Annular Brooch with Latin Inscription (only 5 with writing are recorded on the PAS & this is the best one!)
5 Hammered:
  • Ed I London
  • Ed I Canterbury
  • Ed I London (in nice condition!)
  • Tiny broken Short-Cross Cut Half-penny
  • SCARCE Ed I Berwick-on-Tweed
This is why we do this.:laughing7:

Awesome day!!!! :occasion14:

Simply stunning!

for you to say Bumper Finds, it really has to be a darn good day and it sure looks like it was. really like the heart shaped thing and the two bells. congrats to both of you

Top of the hat hunt.

Outstanding hunt! :notworthy:

Awesome finds again! That brooch is very cool. Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Amazing finds.

Whoa...and to think if any one of us on this side of the pond dug ONE of those, it would be Banner all day long...never mind FIVE hammered, along with all the rest of the awesome, old relics you and Crudad found. I did sense a bit of excitement on your part lol...or at least more than usual! Congrats on your bumper crop of excellent finds..Ddf.

That was an epic day with all those hammered. Congrats.

The excitement came from finding an area loaded with Medieval Finds, because our usual haunt is Roman/Celtic. We know how to track down ancient sites, but have yet to find a system to find Medieval.

What's room and board cost at your place? So much history over there its amazing! Congrats!

Your like the artifacts field guide I go to to find out what the early relics are that I find on early sites here in Virginia. Keep it coming and congratulation!

That brooch has to be an easy BANNER find! It’s incredible! You can tell me....but my guess is that the brooch is far more rare than gold coins you have pulled from the dirt?

Working on it !!!!!

Yeap, it's by far the best example out of the 5 I've seen recorded on the PAS.
We maybe able to make out the Bible reference that would have protected the wearer from the Evil Eye!
