Do you ever have a bad day?
(Hard to remember
)
Once again our predictions were off, as we fired for a 3 hammered day.
Conditions were perfect with the soil on top dry & wet underneath & high temperatures.
I decided to finish off a corner we had left after Day 1, as it turned out it was a real hot-spot. It seemed every dig was a GPS plot!
5 Hours gridding produced;
18th C Silver Button Top
2 Crotal Bells - 1 made by William Gwynn in the Aldbourne Foundry in circa 1790.
Late Medieval Pot Handle (heart shaped thing) - Might be our first complete one, or maybe the 2nd.
Medieval Lead Weights
Medieval Buckles
Some 19th C pressed copper with a Crown over 'APPROVED'
4 Jettons
1 Lead Token
Roman Disc Brooch
18th C Child's Spur
Tudor Clothes Fastener
VERY RARE Annular Brooch with Latin Inscription (only 5 with writing are recorded on the PAS & this is the best one!)
5 Hammered:
