What happens weather-wise when a hurricane hits a volcano anyways?

And wy is NWS calling it a hurricane? Didn't they just get done telling us that a hurricane in the pacific is a typhoon?

Just wondering, after all has settled down, how would the hurricane affect the metal detecting on the beeches?
