I reccommend buying old broken cell phones to recycle. I have a buyer in FL that buys them by the pound. He wants a min of 20 pounds because he also pays the ship charge.
Every week I get for free or pay from 25-50 cents each for 4-5 phones. 100 phones weigh about 20 lbs. This last weekend was no different I picked up 5 for free at yardsales. But on Sunday I decided to go to a swapmeet that I had not been to in over a month. I stopped at every booth that had junk trying to buy phones and silver and brass/copper. I did OK but at one booth the guy said he had boxes of old cell phones at home. I told him what I wanted to pay and he agreed. This whole conversation was done via his daughter the interpreter.
So last night I drove to his house to make my buy. He was not exagerating on the amount of phones he had. I think I bought a bit less than half of what he had. I told him I will be back in a few weeks to buy more.
I now own 1000 broken cell phones  that are soon going on their last trip to Florida.
