In a more serious vein, look at the rims closely: may be DDO/DDR.

The rim indicates it was an encased penny. It was at one time mounted in an advertising piece. These are usually aluminum rims and the pennies were put it the center. I have several and some are plated. They were popular in the 30's-50's.
