I Am That Old Guy!

When I was about 10-12 years old I use to jump on my bike and ride across town to go fishing in the pond in the city park. While there I would, on occasion, see this old man swinging a metal detector and it always stirred a bit of curiosity in me.

Fast forward 55 years to today and I have now become that same old guy in the park!.......

Same here !! I feel your pain !! I'm now sixty and swinging a machine like I saw some else do 50+ years ago !!

I bought a Frontiersman detector in 1970-71. It had 2 coils and a 9V battery. I was 12 or 13. There were some years that I didn’t detect, so I can’t say I’ve been doing it for 54 years; but maybe 46 years.
I guess the old guy I remember was me. 😆

I'm an octogenarian plus and started metal detecting only 25 years ago. I had never seen anyone do it before I started nor had I heard of metal detectors. Now many people are detecting and detectors are common pieces of apparatus.

I’m 68 now .But when I was maybe 15 I would watch my brothers metal detect.They both had white detectors .They would metal dectect anywhere they could.They found civil war buttons one found the rammer that pushed the bullet in the barrel.Both have passed but now I’m metal detecting.I really wished I had their intelligence about metal detecting.
