What I find fascinating is the idea that whomever engraved that, did it over 200 years ago! Wouldn't it be something i we could figure out who was writing?

Nice!

You have a great display item, much better than the worn out colonial that it is. Sorry no help on what it might have been coin wise............Although on the photo on the right there might be evidence of a date bar at the bottom, which could indicate the most logical coin it could be, one of the KG coppers or a CT copper.....

Great find.
Can you get a date off of it??

Pretty darn cool! A lost coin is a good find, but this was probably some ones good luck charm or keepsake from a loved one. Congrats on an awesome find.

Very cool, like a love token?

Does that say " DB Hoggs "? That is one very special find! Congrats to you.

Now that's neat!

Very cool find!!!

that's really cool

Wicked cool find Chris! Congrats. I wish I could ID it for you.

Looks like it might be a crude and early example of a love token. Very cool find!

Very cool find. I have one too, but it was either carried around in a pocket or pouch, or circulated as money, since the engraving isn't perfectly clear. I know that on one side mine says John 1758. The "J" is really an "I" with a line through it and the "N" is backwards which is cool. The other side is tougher to read but I can see an "M" and a "A".
