Had an interesting conversation with a teller last week. After a nearby branch produced some profitable rolls of CWR halves for me, I struck up a relationship with the teller and now she saves all CWR coins for me (this is only the second branch that sets aside all CWRs for me - I don't really want to search a lot of coins other than halves, and these CWRs from downtown branches don't really produce, except for copper cents and wheats). When I asked if is she was sure that I cleaned out all of the halves in the vault, she said yes but that she could get more rolls for me, and they would be "the old ones". I've had lots of tellers offer to order halves for me, but never had one who said the halves would be old or anything else. I assumed she was just talking about ordering boxes, so I asked her if there was any minimum amount. She said no, whatever amount you want. I've never had a bank tell me they could order less than $500 worth. I don't really need another bank or order me boxes (or even less than a box of MWRs), but I figured there's no harm in checking this out. I ordered $100 worth to do a test. I'm expecting the same MWRs that I get when I order boxes from another branch of this same bank, but we'll see whether I've stumbled onto something interesting. The rolls are supposed to be in tomorrow. I'll post the outcome.

I am sure she is mistaken, but who knows? I really hope they do produce for you.. I have a few tellers from a very small local bank that insist they used to get their boxes from the fed before switching to dunbar a couple of years ago. Once again I don't necessarily believe them, but they have been working there for over ten years so who knows?

Can wait to see what you get. HH, Maverick.

Yes, I also had a teller at another bank insist she could order me Ikes, until she actually tried to place the order.

It'll be interesting what she shows up with.

On the Ikes, Someone on here talked to a manager at brinks. He said the banks can order Ikes, but they aren't on the normal order forms.

Looking forward to hearing about your results or better yet, SEEING THEM!

Well, did you get them?

We had a misunderstanding - today the teller told me that she was ordering them today, not having them ready for pick up. So, I'll have them Friday. I expecting regular Dunbar MWRs at this point, but we'll see what comes.

The suspense is killing us...well, maybe not killing...maybe like slightly hurting.

It's not killing me anymore. I am more and more convinced that she will just give me MWRs that are not old. I don't know why she said they would be old. Oh well, at least she is setting aside all the CWRs for me.

Total disappointment.

Went by the branch Friday afternoon to collect the halves. Was told that the halves were there, but they were with the rest of the coins that came in and the people at the branch needed 2 hours to count and process the delivered coins (never heard that one before). The teller told me that $140 in halves came in even though I ordered $100 - told her that it was no problem and that I would take them all. She said I could come back for the coins anytime on Monday (they are closed on the weekends).

So, went by this morning and was told that they still had not processed the coins - teller said she would call me when I could get them. She called a little while ago and I walked over and picked them up. However, she said she just had $80 of rolls :icon_scratch: The rolls were the yellow and white NF String MWRs that I typically see. Total skunks, and a lot of them had the edge marks I usually see when I'm in a bad roll.

I'm a little let down but not surprised. I've obtained MWRs from another nearby branch of the same bank and they are always skunks. The branch I bought the $80 from today is close to my office and I don't mind walking over there, so it's not a big deal. I don't regret trying. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained"

This is the only branch where I have ever found true CWRs of halves, and those rolls gave me one 40% per roll. The teller also holds all CWRs for me now, so I will keeping working with this branch.
