I can't go mining if can't get out there

1 month later and after several delays, including the weather, I got it fixed.
The Golden Rabbit Tour Coach is back on the Road.:hello2::headbang:
But it's all good, taking the extra time I found other important problems it solve.
So I welded cast iron(it's like welding glass).
Into a 500º oven, then quickly to the welding bench.
My friend puts the torch to it, heating both ends while I welded and rolled it around.
Filled 2 holes, and 2 full passes all the way around the manifold.
Torching it as the welds cooled and then back into the 500º oven.
We turned down the temp every 30 min. by 100º until we reached room temp.
The center of a 1" long weld showed a hair line crack, so the next day we did the whole process again.
Success, and for good measure 2 coats of Pryo-Putty by aremc,

im guessing that work work for long ... I had one welded , it looked great and the welding rod said for cast iron // it failed ...go get one at a junk yard if you cant get a new one .... mine is not bad and seals it self after 5 mins when warmed up .

Hi C I'll tell you I swear by this Pryo_putty I first used it on this manifold 10 years ago and I didn't even do it right but it lasted until just a few months ago. Since I had the time I decided to do it right and do it myself.

Impressive work!

Mine it and recycle it!

And the real beauty is I saved over a $1,000.00 in parts and labor because I know how to weld Cast Iron.:goldpan:

I'm sure glad my coach has a banks kit. No busted bolts or cracked manifolds. That was something that was a must when I was shopping for one. I bought a 90 33' Holiday Rambler Class A with a 460. Plans are to use it as a base camp for COMFORTABLE prospecting trips from Wa. to Az. and all points in between.
