Merry Christmas,
I know what I think this might be. Anyone have any ideas??? Sorry, I don't have a more detailed picture. Thanks. 8-)

Snapshot 6 (12-18-2012 10-41 PM).webp

Hard to say, doesnt look identifiable. On the left might be a fish? To the right of that looks like a thick round something, doesnt look like an anchor ring, the numbers are obscuring some of it. Hard to say. What do you think it is?

I am pretty sure he wants to know what the picture is. The background.

Hard to say without size referance. The open end next to the fish looks like a bell but the area to the right before it goes under the sand is to long, would be an odd shaped bell. Could be the muzzle of a cannon.Or if the fish is tiny could be the neck of a bottle.

I'll need the Full Coordinates to figure it out :laughing7:

I'll need the Full Coorordinates :laughing7:

Diggin the coordinates are in about 500 feet of water, East of Marathon, FL.

Comfortably numb. I wish I could tell you for sure how big the fish is. I'll give it a WAG at about a foot long. My thoughts were a Bell or the front end of an old cannon.

I do have other shots of what look like cannons going under the sand. I also have a picture of what at first I thought might be half of a pipe that looks pretty clean lying on top of the sand, but after I measured the 2 ends of the pipe in the picture. The object is definitely tapered. I'll try and post that one on this thread later today.
The biggest problem that I have with the pictures is that they were taken in very deep water with a drop camera, with the wind and tide moving the boat.

Old man, Hard to say on that one. Looks like a pipe at first glance, But yes it does have a slight taper. No noticeable raised areas on it to suggest a early cannon. Only thing I can think of on an early wreck thats round, smooth and tapered would be the mast, But I dought it would have lasted that long. Could be some modern junk sitting on your wreck.

comfortably numb,
I'm not sure either, too bad the camera didn't pick up the back 1/2 of the object. Then we would know if there were any raised characteristics and other identifying markings.

Wish you had a way to put it to scale. Sure looks like a bell. Damn exciting

bay pirate, I wish I could put it to scale too. A bell was my first guess. We're going to put an ROV on it in a few weeks. If it is a Bell, we'll send a diver to to bring it up. I'll keep you posted.

jeepn. you did such a good job cleaning up those other pictures. Could you clean this one up? The Black spot in the middle of the picture, might be attached to a rectangular object under the sand. It's hard to tell from the picture.

I see two "black spots". One, where it say, Line 1 26 Characters", is to the left of the "2". The other is at a 45 degree angle downward from the "2" in Line 3.

The top spot looks like euither the top of a bottle, or the opening to a pipe of some sort. If that whole vaguely rectangular shaped thing is one piece, it might be some sort of manifold.

What in the hell are you guys up to . This whole thread does not make any sence to me . Cornelius
