Found this today in Washington Ma. Did find an Artillery Button circa 1808-1814 last year at this spot. Item is lead. Is missing the small handle from the other side. Is Hollow, but being lead, has some weight to it. Measures about 2" long. Looks like a piece is missing or broken off the bottom. There is a small hole at the top which continues larger through the entire tube. I Dunno :dontknow:

Thanks for the reply. But it looks like there were two small handles, one on each side that would be identicle. Doesn't appear anything else is broken off accept the other end. It has those small grip type notches in it too. I'm thinking the handle(s) end was the top. Not that it isn't a possibility, but I don't think part of a toy gun. By the way.......Awesome finds you are getting lately. :notworthy:

Was just looking through,"Collector's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Amarican Revolution. On page 15 there are examples of "powder testers", used to test gun powder. Kinda looks like one of these, only these are made of brass or iron. Which discounts my lead piece.

Hit it with a hammer, if it squishes, it's lead. If it cracks, it is pewter. :dontknow:
