I found a couple of neat rocks today. This one smelled like sulphur and stuck to a magnet. This was in northern Georgia burried in red clay.

They look to me like bits of man made metal that have been subject to heat and their time in the ground.

+1 Iron slag of some sort.
Burnt pyrite can look & smell like that.
