Hey , Guys I just found a site with great pricing on the Deus detectors . I'm not a dealer or anything like that , but we all like to get our equipment from a great place with lots to chose from . You can PM me and I will let you know , I don't think we can just give a link on the forum or I would . The site has some of the best pricing on all kinds of detectors that I have found . You get free shipping also !!!!!!!

Hi guys , I was wondering how you felt about the Deus pricing , and if you found any place that had them cheaper , including the shipping ?

Call around, vendors often times have MAP programs with many things in the retail world (this is particularly true with Dewalt tools for instance). Minimum Advertised Price dictates that although the vendor can sell for whatever they want, they cannot advertise below a certain price.
A vendor can correct me on this but from what I've seen this seems to be the case with the deus. Either that or everyone seems to advertise the same bottom line price. You will get the best price by calling around and not looking at advertised prices.

Call Bart at BBH. He is among a few on here that can get you a good deal on that machine.

I've spent quite a bit of time reading up on which detector would be the best purchase as I'm just starting out. It's hard enough to pick a model with conflicting reviews I've read on the different models and no real store in my local. I have to say that the one thing that has kept me from purchasing a metal detector is the manufacturers insisting their dealers use their MAP. If the real price is lower then the MAP price then post the real price. It's call free market pricing. I looked at the MAP price on some of this detectors and it's an immediate no purchase decision. Really, why would a company base their business model on the auto industry. I can't stand going into the car dealership and doing the pricing dance with the sales man. Sorry for the rant. It's just how I see it as an outsider looking in.

They do that to protect smaller distributors who may be unable to sell at such extremely slim margins as big box stores. It also protects brick and mortar stores who are in the same boat and may have higher overhead than a dropship website. Also those who may get better costs if they have a tiered cost structure amongst their distributors based on volume, it prevents them from advertising lower than other distributors and leveraging their better buying power to pull sales their way through published pricing. There's many reasons to do it and although annoying for the end user, it does help to protect distribution channels.

If dealers want to sell their product the manufacturer has the right to say only use map price for advertising, if a dealer violates it then they lose the distributor rights to sell that product. ALL manufacturers do it...

I totally agree TH , but some dealers have a higher than normal MAP price on their web sites . Some people are paying those prices . JMHO

Thanks for the replies. The answers I've received are valid and this price protection business model is used in many different industries. My point is the act of mandating the use of MAP for a product may actually decrease the total number of units of a product sold by the company. The MAP of a product may be set at a price point that would dissuade an individual from buying the product. Even though the lower true street price of the product is within the discretionary spending budget of the individual. End result is a lost sale. The question is how many lost sales happen each quarter.

I agree with you , I do buy a lot of stuff on line . I don't usually make phone calls to places , I ask questions if they offer online help . I just don't like talking on the phone for purchases . I have to talk on the phone , more than enough in business . I like to relax and do my research on line and then buy what I choose .

I just bought one for 1263.00 shipped I work hard for my money and I need the best deal possible. I got the ws 5 version with remote and then called around for my buddy and found one for 1245.00 shipped I think thats pretty good.

Wow, that's about what I paid online for mine with the wired headphones. For 15 more bucks I could have gotten the wireless headphones. Lesson learned here. Great thread.

never buy direct online CALL and haggle with multiple dealers competition is great!

Great deal. Wonder if whoever you were dealing with would have given you an even lower price on the ws4 phones package with the detachable module or if they were just trying to move the less versatile WS5 phone combination.

yes the price was close to 40.00 cheaper on the ws4 .
