I Give Up, HELP

I found this coin detecting in a park. It is a little smaller (28 MM) than a half but as thick. Shiny. Non ferrous. It has an A in a circle. It has 3 v cut grooves. Anyone have any idea what it is? Thanks in advace.

I've used similar style tokens (with the groves) in machines that dispense golf balls at driving ranges. . . although I would think they could also be adapted for arcade game machines as well.

It’s a patented ‘high security token’, although I don’t know who filed the original patent and I believe it has now expired such that any one can make them. A number of companies sell them, including ‘e-service’ in the UK, for any kind of machine vending operation where a higher level of protection against fraud is desired (and note that they won’t sell to members of the public). That’s what the slots provide, by uniquely engaging with a mechanism in the coin-slot.
