I was watching an Interstate battery commercial and it hit me like a ton of bricks! That is , what is wrong with the world today. I mean all the crazies shooting people in schools and theaters.
The commercial starts out with two guys, probably in their twenties, watching a car slowly skidding down an icy hill wrecking cars it passes. The guy are laughing. Then suddenly one realizes that his car is parked at the bottom of the hill. The smile leaves his face and he rushes down to save HIS property.
Here's the point. Some people get great pleasure watching other people suffer loosing property. It's like they don't have a dog in the fight so they really enjoy it. These are the same people that go to a prize fight, not to see a guy win, but to see someone have the sh t beat out of him. These are the same people that go to the auto races to see the cars wreck not the skillful driver win. These are the guys that slow at accidents to see the damage and heart. These are the guys that go to the football games to see the players endure punishment and get heart.
The thing is , I believe, some enjoy other peoples misery so much that they cross over that thin line of moral responsibility that they want to actually cause the misery!! The bug problem is that this group of people is growing.
Just my observations, Frank

Human nature is to look out for your self first, plain and simple.

Yes, self survival is a primary instinct, But inflicting pain for the enjoyment of it is a kids instinct that you should grow out of extremely early in life. Frank

I agree Frank, it is undeniable this thought process is growing in popularity. Just listen to recent political speeches.....tax the rich, they need to be punished.? Punished? Way of thinking for a good many.

Leave it to the Germans to have a word for it.

Schadenfreude - pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.

I thought that was Farfignugen

No, that's what you scream when your German car needs very expensive repairs!!

people of this ilk are called SADIST * they greatly enjoy the pain and suffering of others -- oh yes these cruel sick warped type of people have been around a long long time -- the romans feeding the christans to the lions , and watching gladator games are prime exsamples

if the govt could get away with it -- and could set up "death row" inmate gladator games on a pay per veiw basis --with a no choice --either fight or die on the spot by being shot --and if they win--- they get say a 2 month rest peroid before your next match -- folks would watch in droves -- especially if people could bet on the outcome as well.

Watch what happens in the next four years.....might bear some resemblance.

There you go Frank, turned political on you nearly as fast as clicked, "post". :laughing7:

We don't call that sadist (one who enjoys inflicting pain on others). We would call that being masochistic (one who enjoys having pain inflicted on them!!). The "majority" did reelect - its own own damn fault!!

0121stockpicker, Yes, but only if you call 27% of the US population a majority. You have to remember that more people didn't vote than voted. But I think you have the " majority voters" classified right. Frank

rose on ice 700 this one.webp

Understood - good point. "Voting majority".

states that required "proof positive " photo id's to vote - number that obama won 1 ouit of 4 (25%) --% of states that obama won that required some sort of "positive id" --not photo id but still some sort of "positive proof of us citizenship / legal voter status" --40% of the total --states that did not required "proof positive' of voter's citizenship / legal voter status ( states where it quite easy to commit voter fraud ) % won by obama --100% these numbers make one go humm -- especially when there were 2 well known voter fraud cases leveled at democratic congress level type folks --virginia congressmans son had to step down after being caught on tape "teaching" folks how to commit voter fraud , and a maryland democratic congress office seeker that had to quit her race after being caught commiting voter fraud by voting in both maryland and florida in the 2006 elections

so when some folks say "we elected him" -- I think really ? we who?
