I bought my Silver Umax at the end of Jan. Right off the bat, I turned it on and the detector starts chattering like it's sending Morse code. I tried everything I could think of. I sent it to Tesoro on Feb 25th and got it back on Mar 13th. The note from the service tech said there was definitely something wrong with the coil, but it was an easy fix. I hooked it up and no more Morse code! I'll probably get to test it tomorrow. I'm happy.

Cool, mine has done that a couple times too. I have heard that tesoro is great with customer service and support.

Wille D, Tesoro has great customer support and they might have given you a new coil. I've had some detectors that acted like this and was told water got inside the coil from a bad plug. I had one Excal go crazy because a air bubble burst on the bottom of the coil and water got inside. I now use Loctite Marine Epoxy instead of the coil covers.

Take Care,
Sandman
