I got "SILVER",,,no wait junk,,,silver,,,junk,,,,,Iam not sure what I got.......

I went to the park near my house and I found this bracelet a few feet in front of the swings. Part of it is missing so Iam not 100% what it is. At first I was sure it was silver cause no tarnish but the more I look at it Iam not sure. I also found 15 cents and a fired 90Gr .355 FMJ (.380).

Check it with a magnet first. I hope it's silver, but it does have that pot metal look.

Nice digs I agree "Mustard test?" I know magnets won't stick to silver or vice versa, but will mustard not stick to magnets?

Or you can do the aluminum foil 'spit' test, which is more gross than the mustard test, but works great. Take a small piece of aluminum foil, put part of the bracelet in the foil, spit on it, then fold it up. Let it simmer for 10 seconds, then unfold the foil. As you unfold, smell it. If it smells like rotten eggs (you will know cause it will knock your nose off), it's silver.

does this help to tell the difference in plate and sterling.. or just sterling or plate versus any other shiney metal?

thanx for the heads up on the test..... I have 5 larger pieces of silver ware that I was fairly sure was sterling.. but not marked... they pass the spit test... so if they are sterling.. I have lil over 6 oz. of silver in them... bought a whole flat at an auction for 7 bucks.. what a return!
