A while back, I posted something regarding a friend that was being taken for a ride by our own gov'ment (surprise?). Back story was that even after the child turned 18, his checks were still being drafted. Reason being? "They found that he hasn't been paying and will continue to draft". The first problem with that was that he had made all his payments on time. The second sad portion is that this man gets social security because of his extremely debilitating MS.
So, his ex-wife (and her new boyfriend), took it upon themselves to look into it. Prior to this, the Gov'ment said, "They ain't nothing you can do... just shut up and pay"... or something like that). But, low and behold, they got the bank to send them every copy of every check that was sent, and they also created a spreadsheet matching the checks sent, that lined up with every month that was 'missing'.
Low and behold, the gov',ment came back and said, "we have stopped drafting your checks. We are now looking at getting back the overpayment that you sent to give back to you". Now normally, I would suspect that they wouldn't care about overpayment, but for some reason, they are now going after her for every penny that he overpaid her. It really doesn't make since, but it's still a good.
In all honesty, the guy really does need a break. He's back is so bent up and out of shape, he's on a walker and can't even get out of bed half the time. The last thing he needed was to deal with this garbage. thankfully his ex-wife stepped up the plate and did the right thing.
Pigs really do fly. (I'm not calling anyone a pig... I'm just referring to the ol' adage).
