Metal Detecting
This is the third one of these that I've stumbled on while detecting out in the woods in western Pa. No metal but I found a nail by the last one. They are basically in the middle of nowhere, deep in the Pennsylvania woods. Any ideas?? ( sorry about the sideways pics ) IMG_1020.webpIMG_1022.webp

Any chance you are near the Ohio border?
These may be surface markers for the underground state line boundary markers.

or, (more likely?) they are just plain old survey markers.
Would be more exciting to find a lost Mason-Dixon marker, or maybe an Ellicott marker.
You never know.... :icon_thumleft:

I found an old one when I was a kid out fishing, it was granite and maker “east Sudbury” and I think the date on it was 1790 but I could be wrong. Maybe I’ll go back and take a few pictures and do a little detecting, it’s a quarter mile from Knox trail.
