It's a brass spade guinea gaming token:

They were used in the 18th and 19th centuries in various card games. Relatively common to find in the UK, but fairly uncommon to find here in the US. They were made to resemble gold guineas or half guineas and were sometimes even gold plated, but the lettering around the edge was intentionally made to be different so they wouldn't run afoul of anti-counterfeiting laws. Very cool find!
