Out in the woods the other day in an uncharacteristically beautiful August Va. morning when I dug this long narrow flat piece of what appears to be brass with some unusual markings. It appears to have been used for measuring something, but I'm not sure what. It was in an area of the yard of a 1790's house where several civil war items have been found. Any ideas on what it could be?? Anyone?? The other picture is pretty self explanatory, be careful out there!!
