I live near Wilkes barre pa (Kingston to be exact) how do I find old roads or home sites that may no longer exist?

Do an internet search for penn pilot. It is a web site from Penn State if I remember correctly. They have a series of old photos from the 1900's. I believe they were done by the farm bureau. Good luck!

go to library of congress. american history maps look for the 1876 Beers maps by PA county ( you're in Lacawanna, right?) search on early land patents and same maps
come up. they mark old schools and the residential homes from the period, as well as mills and businesses. good stuff.

The Penn State site also has old Sanborn fire insurance maps for the urban areas that show building placement on the lots.
