There was a joke spoon that was made of a metal with a low melting point. I think some bismuth alloy. When the spoon was put preferably a strong hot cup of coffee the person stirring the cup would see the spoon melt.
I have no idea to the toxicity of the spoon. Funny around the camp fire.

I've got a better idea!!! Quit worrying about it and everything you eat. Constantly worrying will give you ulcers and other nervous disorders that'll kill you quick!!! So quit worrying about every little thing, pour a cup of strong nice coffee, go pull the steak off the grill (it's about medium rare right now ) turn on the TV and watch some movie the critics poo pooed. When you've finished this have a nice piece of pie or even a donut for dessert. You'll wake up with a could give a squat attitude and the world will be beautiful again!

The work Coffee.. it's nice to just push a button and out comes the coffee..not really my favorite. I grew up on Folgers drip coffee. So, it has some sentimental value.

I do like a good press when I'm camping.
