I need the advice of my Tnet friends on a Garret PP acting eratic.

My old black garret Pin Pointer is doing some funky stuff and last two hunts I have had to go to my back up TRX. When I place it near the hole it starts beeping and doesn't stop. It is very sensitive, my hand will set it off. I replaced new battery's, and it worked fine for a little while but then started beeping erratically again. Even though the ground was wet and highly mineralized, I have hunted for two years with no problems. Does anyone know anything else I can do before I call Garret?
