It is not a ring magnet. You just are digging targets down near the Iron and pull tab range.
 

If your digging Pulltabs and Nickels...You are hot on Gold...Ive found 5 Gold rings in less than a month, and 3 of them were right on the Nickel (51-52)...I can say teh AT Pro is a Nickel Magnet..Since i have had this machine the last year, Ive found my first Buff, V Nick & War Nick

I had a few machines in my time as you can see and its defanatly a ring magnet. Heck 3rd day out with it i found a 10k ladies diamond ring with it. It picks up on nickels and pull tabs really well and there fairly easy to identify too.
