Here's a selection of Paleo points (and a large knife) that were found by my father and I, mostly Wayne Co., Ohio. I could fill at least a few large frames with all the busted bases we've found

Thanks for looking. The "tan" material is the "Vera Cruz" jasper from Pennsylvania. There is a little park there, and I went with a guide a couple times to collect on private property within a few miles of the park.

I lived in Ohio for 30 years & never heard of Sheridan Cave until I moved back to Florida. Thanks for sharing.

Depending on when you lived here, It's presence may not have been known. It's associated with what was known as Indian Trail Caverns. The caverns were a tourist attraction since the early 30's or 40's. In the early 90's, the owner suspected that a big sinkhole behind the entrance was another entrance to the caverns. He had a large crane and clam shell bucket dig down and the new cave was discovered, and it was filled with ice age animal bones. A paleontology dig was conducted for a couple years and after the first bone point was found, it became an archaeological dig. And the rest as they say is history. Both Sheriden Cave and Indian Trail Caverns are now both closed.

I moved back to Florida in 1983. I heard of Sheridan cave maybe 10 years ago and have read about all the fossils & points found there. It was a great discovery. I didn't live near that area. Most of Ohio has a lot of great areas to search with rich histories.

These are usually interpreted as an Eastern correlate to Agate Basin. Cumberland, RI. Quartzite. If and when they are found in a dated context, they will receive a formal regional type name...





Looks like this NM fluted point was never finished...





During the most recent Sugarloaf, Ma., dig, Gary Folgelman, who owned and edited Indian Artifact Magazine, dug this up. Made of rhyolite, it's the largest fluted point known from New England. It was unfinished, and it was broken by farm machinery driving atop its burial location.





These too were from the Paleo encampment at Sugarloaf.
