I wasn't even expecting to be able to detect..

I went to an old spot next to the river today expecting not to be able to get through the mostly frozen ground here in Mn.

It was my first time out this year, and my 3rd hole of the day gave me my oldest silver ever...





Anybody know why it's green? I checked the hole for other signlas and nothing.

Also, a condom tin from the early 1900's..

The container was right underneath the biggest tree in the area by far. I don't think it fell far from the action.

I've been hunting 3 years and I've never found a silver half dollar. It's a big coin to lose without someone else immediately seeing it and picking up so I imagine few make it to the "hunted for" stage. Congrats on a couple great finds.

Sweet finds. The coin is awesome. Im not sure exactly why it has some green but in a silver spill i found before some of the coins had the exact same thing. It sure looks like verdigris off copper. But no copper or anything was found with them.

I GPS'd the coordinates of that find, I might have to back and make sure nothing else was down there.
