I wasn't going to post this, until I noticed the 13 Stars.

I found this yesterday. I thought it was just a modern key shaped pin, until I noticed that the American Flag only has 13 stars. There is something missing from the middle, but I don't think it was a Canadian flag. ;)

Does anyone recognize this?

Maybe bicentennial related. The center could of held the french flag.

I don't recognize the pin but is it possible that it is, like you thought, a modern pin but the maker didn't have room to put in all the stars? I'm Canadian so I had to look it up but apparently there should be 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes to represent the original 13 colonies. Perhaps the maker of the pin took liberties with the design because of limited space.

Would the French flag be white?

It makes sense it would be the French flag which is red, white and blue. Another possibility is it had a state flag from wherever it was made. Probably bicentennial related.

You had to think about whether that was cool enough to post? Isn't it you who just received his Spanish silver certification? What's up with that!

I hate to say it but the reason there are only 13 stars is the same reason for 7 stripes... They wouldn't fit on a small cast bobble like that.

Just sayin'

Looks cool to me.

Nice find.
How deep was it??

It wasn't that deep. Found it on a field next to an old riverboat stop.

You guys, hehe.... The best.8-)

Could be worse,it could have the 57 stars on it to represent the 57 states:sign10:

Nice work Bramble. The boats stopped in 1946. :)

Well if it's that old, the third could have been China. I have a collection of war pins and China is on several.....being one of the allies.
