Found last weekend in rock shelter about 7 ft deep in SW MO. It’s beveled on each end. Most of the stuff I find there is archaic and some paleo, but with the way this thing is beveled it looks sort of like Harahey. Any ideas?
You think they were used in the fall for the nut harvest? I bet you find some good mortars and pestles. Nice looking shelter. Looks like you have been flipping the big rocks to dig under. Sometimes they will have a trash pile off the shelter where they kept them cleaned out. Might find your awl there. I have 3 shelters fr this summer to dig but right now am water hunting. Finds are slim but coming.
Thanks I like seeing the shelters.
