found in creek near by. fossil of some kind. Is there any way to seperate
fossil from the rock? There maybe another one inside. Thanks for any help.

I don't know what this is, Wes. It's probably marine Mississippian in origin and age. You could start your search there.

You can remove the matrix, but it won't be easy. You'll need a pneumatic scribe to chip away at it. You have a nice display specimen already; I wouldn't do anything to it.

Thank You Harry, I'll try finding some info on it, on the big internet, i think your right on about
doing anything else to it. It will display good like it is. Again, thank you for your reply.

I think your right its either calamite or a close cousin. I really appreciate your responce.
