Identifying Lincoln Cent Oddities

I have been referring to these coins with black lines across them as "improper alloy mixes".. but really I have no idea what they are. Are these just some variety of after-mint damage? The lines aren't always the same on every coin; some of them only have one or two lines, the one pictured is one of the more extreme ones I have.

They seem very common; I have at least a few dozen of them all dated from the early 70's to 1982 (but all are copper). I probably find at least 3 per box of 2500 pennies.

Sometimes they’re called wood grain cents. Some people discount the value due to it. Others, myself included, would add a premium. I think they’re cool.
