If you could live anywhere in the U.S., where would you be?

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. where I would request Congress to create a National Treasure Hunting Day and ask all Americans to go out and find some pieces of American history (to keep). Then I would ban banning of metal detectors - as long as the detectorists could pass the Code of Ethics FIRST. Then we'd have more history, more fun, and more treasures. No permits, no licenses, just pass the written or oral exam to be given at the time of purchase or at any time you want via the internet. Then your machine gets a stamp on it to show you passed the ethics test and away you go!!!!

2nd choice: Winnemucca, Nevada.

Arizona followed by Alaska for those old gold and silver mines!

Fort Knox, KY in my little dreamworld. Otherwise, Alaska gold country in the summer and the Superstitions Mountains, AZ, in the winter. ;D

Alaska for me if I had too.I hear people are finding nuggets on the beaches.

When my girls college is paid for I am gonna sell my house, live in my RV and go where ever I feel like when I wake up in the morning.

sounds like a quote from a "gold rush" novel

I was born and raised in Alaska, but had to leave just when I got into panning and MDing.

I was 13.

That's my retirement plan!!!!!Ya hoo.....can't wait.thinking of renting one for a few weeks.

I think I already live in two of the best places I could... Florida (home) & Missouri (college). Both are RICH in history and treasure/caches. So I'm very much content!!!!

Then of course there's my second home... TreasureNet! This place really is great... and it's the people that make it that way! ;)

Well, maybe I'm just the nostalgic type, but I say there's no place like home.

Home for me is Medford, Massachusetts.

Founded in 1630, 4th oldest English settlement in America. Established as a City in 1892, Medford is one of the oldest settlements in the Commonwealth and the US.

Medford was a leader in the Clipper Ship building industry and also manufactured brick and tile. In addition, Medford was famous for it's "Medford Rum" and "Medford Crackers."

Paul Revere came through awaking Medford to "the British are coming!" General George Washington visited here during the Revolutionary War.

The Christmas Song "Jingle Bells" was written here by James Pierpont.

Medford contains many historic sites, monuments, and houses, some of which date back to the 17th century.

The picture is the Isaac Royall House, built 1732 - 1739.
I could just about throw a rock and hit it from my house.

New England truly is a special place.

Hmm, interesting question...

The simple answer would be right where I am, AZ...

(WITHOUT the #%^&& <expletive deleted> er, "blessed" developers of course)

The complex answer...

July, August,...Alaska, Nome specifically but actually not IN Nome, and don't ask for specifics
September, October, November, ...Wyoming (I won't post the exact spot here in public)
December, January, February,...Arizona (ditto)
March, April, May...California (Imperial or Kern county)
June...California (Plumas county)

Now all I need to do is win that lottery and put this into action! :o 8) ::) ;D :D ;)

What a beautiful country we live in, in my opinion no country on Earth has as much natural beauty and variety - every state I have ever visited has its own charm and grace - I cannot think of a single state that does not have great beauty and great places to go out metal detecting.
