If you don't mind digging CLAD.......

I have found a great spot for all of you who say you don't have much luck finding coins. If you are a coin shooter and it doesn't matter to you that you are not digging old stuff I have the perfect spot. While driving home from Waterloo, IA today I decided to stop at a rest area. I got my detector out and in about 45 minutes I found 43 coins (thats almost a coin a minute). I don't know about you but I have never seen anyone detecting at the Interstate rest areas. Now chances are you are not going to find many old coins but if you are lucky you might find a piece of jewelry or two.

I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!

Re: If you don't mind digging CLAD.......

That sounds like a good idea but isn't that state highway property?

Congrats on the finds anyway!

Re: If you don't mind digging CLAD.......

I tried that about a month ago on my way home from Salt Lake City............found out the hard way that diggin holes in Utah rest areas is very much forbidden! Got away with a warning & ran back to Idaho with my tail between my legs. You might want to check in your state, no sense losing equipment or getting fined. :(

PatPall22, I am not Catholic but I believe its Mary. If anyone would like to tell me the significance of this Medal I would appreciate it.

I know Saint Christopher is for protection, what is the reason to where Mary? Is this medal given for a special occasion? Like I said I am not Catholic.

Re: If you don't mind digging CLAD.......

rest areas are one of those areas that I don't know enough about, so I won't do it places. I would assume they are considered state property, which in MO is a no-no to swing a detector spot. Hate to lose my car, house, wife, kids, and detector to find a few cents in someplace I don't know the rules about.

Re: If you don't mind digging CLAD.......

Utah happens to be one of those places that really restricts detector use. If you are not harrased by the Feds the state will be happy to restrict your fun.

Clad is your friend - the medal of mary is fairly common - I have found dozens of them and a lot of them are silver (as yours looks to be!) - good find!

A little scary AP....where/who would you find out from as to whether it is permitted?
