A quick hunt in one of my favorite spots produced this 1881 IHP. A 24 hour Vaseline bath and toothpick cleaning worked extremely well on this coin to reveal its incredible detail.

I’ll let the reverse side soak in Vaseline overnight to see if I can get the rest of the gunk off. Based on the weather forecast it looks like this might have been my last hunt for the year.

Wow! First of all, what a beautiful IHP that is! Second, I've never heard of using Vaseline for cleaning coins, but I can't argue with the results! Excellent work!

Pffft, season isn't over till Dec 31st buddy. Then it starts again on Jan 1st! Nice Indian Cent!

Nice job on the find and the end result after cleaning shows a lot of nice detail. Congrats

You got that right! We going to let a little snow stop us?

Sorry I couldn't join you the other day Mike. It was snowing.

That's really a nice coin. I'll have to use the Vaseline next time.:icon_thumright:

Wow that's a beauty I H s seem to clean up well Good find

Nice IHP! :icon_thumleft: I have a couple crusty IHP's to try the vaseline soak on!

Update, another few hours in Vaseline actually brought out the copper tone of this coin. She’s got a little bit of a scar, but overall I am thrilled with the condition of this coin!
